Manny's/The Living Room

Well so much for my going into the New Year being frugal.

A trip to the dentist should always be followed by a trip to the W Hotel. The best part is if you have a friend who likes to go and play as much as you do..he will remain nameless at least for the next post or two.

My favorite place for people watching and maybe just a place to hang out with a cocktail, is the Living Room i.e the lobby of the hotel. the decor is cool and just in case you are by yourself you do not feel like odd man out.

The happy hour starts at 5, a good time for those of us that work outside of the downtown area. The drink menu is sparse and sweet, 3 drinks $5.00 each. As for the happy hour food sorry i can't even remember(that should tell you something).

Well so much for the happy hour on to Manny's....believe it or not all this is being done on a Monday night..what a way to go!

What can i say about Manny's..portions huge $$$$ huge. If you are in the mood for steak it is the best place to go. Is it cheap NO..but if you belong to the parasole dine around card it can be a little bit cheaper.

This is a place where you share almost everything unless of course you haven't eaten for days. My sugestion would be to do the steak sandwich which in it self is a whole steak but would ask to leave the Texas Toast off. As for everything else it is what it is.

One last comment the wait staff are extemely nice and helpful, with little suggestions on how to make the best choices, always good to hear.

Thats it for now! stay tuned my next post will be about a New restaurent in town.

Bye for now from the food taster at Pegdish!

  1. Hmmm.. who did you dine w/ Peg? What did they think? Oh.. let me tell you. Drinks at LRoom, well if you like sweet tarts in a glass you'll love the drink menu... super super sweet, like candy actually, I'm into a good dirty vodka martini myself (heavy on the olives).
Manny's... well.. if you want to splurge before joining the Biggest Loser then this is the place for you, its super good & totally built on excess.. of every kind, super sized portions of every food group, enough asparagai & hashbrowns for 6 (ordered for 2) and individual steaks that look like roast beefs. Unreal, yet the place is packed. Way too much food.. but I can't argue on taste.. very good. I can't help but think, would traffic be even higher if portions were human sized & prices reduced? As it is.. who goes there that isn't on business or celebrating a special occassion? not sure.. 3 1/2 stars in my book.. I had to take away 1/2 a star cuz every time I go I leave feeling like I could bust, not fun.
    Ciao... phm1235....

  2. After reading most of your restaurant reviews, I come up with conclusions:
    1. You dare to rate a place by ordering one of the cheapest foods they offer such as burger or sandwich (when it's a STEAKHOUSE.)
    2. You sound like a very high maintainance one when you dine out, but you are cheap. You expect a fancy experience but you don't want to pay for it. You only go to a place because there's a coupon or deal. That's the reason of why you didn't get to enjoy the best of one restaurant.
    3. (This might be a bit personal.) You definitely sound like one of those cougars hanging out at BLVD Kitchen for cheap happy hours.

My suggestion to you is, when you go to Manny's, order their steak for God's sakes, not the sandwich! Then that's how you manage to drop an objective review.

Until then, I won't suggest anyone reading your bias reviews. Tatah..
